Let's face it, living in St Louis is good for some things (think Cardinals), but having access to great interior design elements isn't one of them. I was happily surprised to learn about John Beck, a local guy/artist who makes custom stuff out of steel - doors, tables, fireplace surrounds, lighting. Very cool stuff. One of my favorites, because I have little kiddos and like to mix things up every now and again is his recycled steel chalkboard pendant light. I know, you're thinking "chalkboard chalkboard chalkboard"... seems like everything has a chalkboard on it now. Your worries can rest - these pendants are fresh, fun, lighthearted and best of all handmade by Mr. Beck himself here in St Louis. The pendants come in three sizes so you're sure to find one that's perfect for the kitchen, mudroom, entrance or child's room. Ranging in price from $195 to $295, they are relatively easy on the wallet as well.
