Food Obsession:
Dannon All Natural Vanilla Yogurt, fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas layered with Jessica's Maple Granola then lightly drizzle agave syrup over the top. It's the most delicious and satisfying snack (or meal). I crave it and so do my kids.
*Jessica's Granola can be purchased at Whole Foods.

Ladies and gents, primarily ladies: Please do not find the following recipe offensive, but rather coming from a real dude. If you don't find this recipe one that you would like to add to your personal "favorites", pass it along to your man. I'm sure he can relate. Either way, give it a try, lots and lots of friends are raving about the "giant dude burger". Thanks S.B.
From S.B.'s mouth to MNH: I don't have a "recipe," exactly; nothing written down anywhere as far as amounts. But here goes:
Ingredients:
--Big-ass package of lean ground beef (or ground turkey). Err on the side of more ground beef. Seriously, what you want is a shitload of meat. My wife never puts enough meat in those sons of bitches when she makes them.
--"Bricks" of rolls, like the King's Hawaiian brand, I think it's called. Comes in bags of 12 rolls stuck together 3x4. You have to take a good knife and cut through the whole brick so you've effectively got one huge bun.
--One of those big bags of shredded cheese, whatever kind you want to use.
--A couple packets of onion soup mix
Directions:
1. Brown the beef in a giant pan, then mix in the cheese and the soup mix.
2. Stuff as much of the seasoned, cheesy meat inside your 3x4 buns as you dare. A baking sheet should fit two bricks for 24 sliders.
3. Bake the sliders for 10 minutes or whatever just so the buns are nice and warm and toasty.
You be done, baby.

Apparently I am the last to know but happy to know that Trader Joe's has yet another super easy side dish. Add Healthy 8 Chopped Veggie Mix and a bottle of Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette to your shopping list. All you do is mix the two together and there you have it. A fresh, healthy blend of veggies with a kick.

A friend shared Giada De Laurentiis recipe for creamy orzo and it has quickly become a staple in my house. Last time I made it I added chicken for extra protein and next I think I'll throw in some bacon too! Enjoy!

Never make boxed pancakes again!

I recently started making pancakes from scratch and I can't figure out how in the world boxed pancake mixes became the standard. The ingredients are basic, the preparation is simple and the results are superior! Here's my recipe; simply delicious.
1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted

Fresh herbs from the grocery store or farmers market are more fun anflavorful than using dried ones. However, unless you do a lot of cooking, they often go bad before you’ve finished them and it's heart breaking to toss them out (because they're so good, and pricey!) Keeping herbs in the refrigerator can help, but this gadget is designed to keep them fresh even longer. Similar to a flower vase, the herb-keeper allows you to put the bottoms of the stems in water. You can also keep asparagus crisp in the keeper. They're available at cooking supply stores, Crate and Barrel, and Target.
Thanks, once again, to Ashley, for showing me the ways of the world.
