Our FAVORITE e-magazine

I love, love, love Michelle Adams (Domino alumni) along with Patrick Cline (photographer) for creating Lonnymag.com, an online magazine with everything that I have been missing from my Domino subscription. Finally a magazine at my fingertips, instead of piling up around me.  The layout is just like a traditional magazine, click/flip through the pages filled with affordable design products and resources for you and your home.

Love it, Hate it, or Keep Looking?

Hello MNH friends.  I need your opinion.  We recently moved into a home and stripped almost all the wall from EVERY room.  Whew!  The kitchen is the last to go and I'm thinking of  re-wallpapering rather than painting.  Something about wallpaper in the kitchen reminds me of my childhood.  I found this paper at Anthropologie.com and I love the colors and I think with modern white cabinets, white/grey marble counter tops and stainless hardware, it could look fabulous.  But it's waaaay out of my comfort zone so, I want to know...do you love it, hate it, or think I should keep looking?

Best Way to Clean Hardwood Floors

From hardwood floor installers to cleaning ladies who have been around the block all agree that old fashioned vinegar and water is the best solution to clean and add shine to wood floors.  Mix nine parts warm water to one part white vinegar.

Flipping Out with Jeff Lewis

MNH LOVES celebrity home designer, Jeff Lewis!  If you haven't had a chance to watch his reality show based on "flipping" houses and "flipping" out when things go wrong, you shouldn't miss the 4th season of Bravo's Flipping Out  which airs Tuesday, August 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.  Jeff, Jenni (Jeff's #1 assistant) and Zoila (his housekeeper) will shock you with their hilarious lunch-time "round table" where they discuss and critique one another's ability (or inability) to get the job done, not to mention watching Jeff's meticulous talent unfold in every home he designs.

Meanwhile take a look at Mr. Lewis' latest flip with House Beautiful, a 1,000 square-foot kitchen at New York's Rockefeller Center.  It has been named House Beautiful's Kitchen of the Year and will be featured in the October 2010 issue of House Beautiful.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

If you have a room that is lacking in character, add a mirror.  Mirrors have the ability to create a luxurious feel and the illusion of a much larger space in any room of the house for very few dollars.  Don't be afraid of the size, the bigger the better when it comes to mirrors.  

Here are a few tips and tricks from designers in the July/August 2010 issue of House Beautiful:

"I love putting mirrors in built-in cabinetry.  The mirrors reflect the shimmering light of the chandelier, bouncing it all around the room.  The effect at night during a dinner party is incredible." _{Jonathan Berger}
