I often catch myself feeling and saying I'm too busy to take time to be with my friends and family. This year I'm taking time out to rsvp YES to all the invites that welcome socializing with loved ones. My family and I recently watched the documentary, "I Am". It tries to answer the question: "What is wrong with our country? and "What can we do to fix it?" If we skip past all the consumerism and politics, the message invites us to be kind and spread love to all. All you need is love! PEACE.

Ellie J., soon to be 5th grader, shared some of her favorite "anytime", especially summer-time reads. Here's what keeps Ellie's nose in books:
"One of my favorite authors by far is Andrew Clements. I love the clever ways that he organizes his books. I have also read two books by Roald Dahl, 'Matilda' and 'The Witches'. His stories also have clever plots that draw you in. I also enjoyed 'The Westing Game', by Ellen Raskin. It is about heirs trying to find the answer to the "Westing game" because whoever wins gets the inheritance. This story also has a clever story line. As you can tell, I enjoy cleverly written books. I think that they draw you in more and leave you wanting more.
I hope these help! Ellie
p.s. Here are some of Ellie's favorite family games to play when she is not too busy reading:
Othello
Rummikub
Rush hour (child plays by him/herself!)
Classic UNO!!
Solitaire and double solitaire
War
UNO spin
Monopoly
Mastermind
Boobytrap

My friends and I unexpectedly lost a very dear friend a few weeks ago. Losing someone close to you always makes you stop and think, life is too short to be anything but happy and grateful for every breath you take. I was flipping through magazines and came across an inspiring article, "What I know for sure", in the June issue of O magazine. The front cover reads, "thank you for the joy, the laughs, the lessons and the adventure of a lifetime". Of course this reminded me of my friend Katharine, who brought joy and laughter to every dinner party and touched the hearts of many with her strength and happiness every day.
In remembrance of K.H.
Quote for the day: "Do what you love and love what you do".

Adele 19

Love is in the air and in my ears! I'm "crazy" for Adele's Crazy for You from her 2008 debut alum 19. Her bluesy voice is easy on the ears and the heartfelt lyrics are good for the soul. Listen here. Download from iTunes and get that heart-a-throbbin'!

Valentine's Day falls on a Monday this year and Mondays, as we know, are hardly romantic. Kids are back to school, we're back to work and bracing ourselves for another long week, while reflecting on yet another weekend that flew by way too fast. But let's make this Valentine's Day one to remember, forever.
We'll continue to post gift ideas throughout the next two weeks (and we have A LOT!) but we want to share some of our out-of-the-box ideas that are thoughtful, affordable, and easy to work in to our normal lives.
It all starts with a plan...
While he is the shower, you lay out his new work shirt, custom designed with a personal message stitched on the inside from Blank Label.com.
Guys, while she is in the shower and getting ready for the day, you sneak into the kitchen and make a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice (with your Amco Orange X Commercial Juicer) because it's good for her, delicious, and a labor of love! Oranges are in season and, ladies, isn't a labor of love from our guy what this holiday is all about?
Off to work.
We get to the office and check our emails only to be delighted by a thoughtful Valentine's card from Paperless Post.com.
Lunch time rolls around and it's time for a romantic rendevous with the one you love. Re-apply the lipstick (check out Deb's new fav), straighten the tie and head out of the office to an intimate cafe for lunch, just like you did when you first met. Guys, just after you order, present her with a little box containing the rose gold Hand in Hand bangle from Kate Spade. She will love it and so will her co-workers when she shows it off back at the office. Don't worry gentlemen, your present comes later.
As that mid-afternoon drag settles in, it's time to spice things up. Ladies, take PG photo of your man's favorite body part, or download one already on hand. Your neck, your chest (PG!), the curve of your hip, your belly button- you know what he likes (just enough to pique his interest, not enough to get him in trouble at work). Guys, leave this gesture to the women. No offense but you know what they say- women's bodies are art, men's bodies, well, aren't! Girls, send the photo via text with a simple message, "can't wait to see you tonight..."
Happy Valentine's day from The Milk N Honey!

Are you a fan of CAKE? No, not the chocolate or carrot kind, the band. It's been six years since their last album and the latest hit, Sick of You, is one of my favorites. Probably not the way you want to start the new year off, but it's the perfect song after a long, hard day at the office or what-have-you. If you're new to CAKE, you might also like:
